Liebherr-Australia introduced the remanufacturing program, and built the $60 million facility in South Australia to diversify its aftersales service offering, in 2014. Since then, the program has grown exponentially with the team growing from 25 to almost 90 employees. The number components remanufactured in a year has also grown from 660 mining components in 2015 to an expected 1800 this year (2020), and thousands of tonnes of steel have been reclaimed and reused in the process, demonstrating a significant environmental benefit.

The Component Repair and Exchange Program offers customers a cost-efficient solution to machine maintenance while offering as-new quality components with original warranty, remanufactured to the latest technical specifications.

Australian Mining published an editorial discussing the success Liebherr-Australia’s remanufacturing program with an interview from Marius Pretorius, general manager – production.
