Creaton was founded in Wertingen in 1884 and is today one of Europe's leading manufacturers of clay tiles. After the merger of the Berschthold and Ott family brickworks in 1992, the company continued to develop steadily and was taken over by Wienerberger in March 2024. Today Creaton is part of the Wienerberger Group, but retains its brand and identity. With around 2,000 employees at eight production sites, Creaton offers a wide range of roofing solutions characterised by regional tradition, modern innovation and a clear focus on sustainability for renovations.

Liebherr machines in use for extraction in Wertingen
An entire Liebherr fleet is deployed for clay extraction in three loam and clay pits around Wertingen.
The crawler excavator R 966 Litronic, manufactured in Colmar, is used directly for material extraction and impresses with its high penetration force and stability. It has an operating mass of around 78 tonnes and offers high productivity with efficient fuel consumption.
The fleet is complemented by the crawler dozer PR 746 Litronic , which, with 190 kW / 254 hp and state-of-the-art assistance systems, ensures precise grading work and efficient terrain preparation. Thanks to the hydrostatic travel drive and electronic travel control, it moves the largest possible amount of material in the shortest possible time, even on the most difficult terrain.
Two wheel loaders L 586 XPower and L 550 XPower are responsible for loading the lorries. Its innovative Liebherr XPower travel drive combines hydrostatic and mechanical drive for maximum performance with low fuel consumption. The concept enables faster work cycles, high tip loads and ensures high machine availability for impressive handling performance.
