The new TA 230 Litronic has been developed for rugged off-road use. Its efficient drivetrain, permanent 6 x 6 all-wheel drive, reliable traction control and solid axle mounts enable the new Liebherr dump truck to tackle any terrain. This means it can produce incredibly fast cycle times – regardless of whether it is on a large construction site, in a quarry or in a tunnel. This newest member of the Liebherr family is at home wherever demands on it are highest.

The TA 230 this is not just powerful, robust and efficient, but also has a machine body designed for easy maintenance. A smart machine check-up and unhindered access to the entire engine bay minimises daily maintenance work.

Angled bonnet for improved visibility and safety

The short, angled bonnet gives the operator perfect all-round visibility. Large glass surfaces with no struts to interfere with the field of vision enhance the clear visibility from the cab. The mirrors are positioned right at the front to give excellent visibility at the rear as well. This means that the new TA 230 delivers the best, safest visibility to the front and rear of any ADT on the market.

Improved positioning of components

The TA 230 this is not just powerful, robust, precise and efficient, but is also designed to ensure fast, simple and safe maintenance to minimise costs and down times. The electro-hydraulic bonnet opening and integral access steps with non-slip surfaces provide safe, unobstructed access to the entire engine bay. The service points are clearly visible and easy to reach. All maintenance work can be carried out easily and safely from a standing area.

Modern design and standard LED headlights

The new TA 230 Litronic has been completely redeveloped and boasts an attractive new exterior design with hard edges and beading, a feature common throughout the new 8th generation of Liebherr earthmoving machines. The powerful LED low beam headlights and the design light also shape the face of the new member of the family and illuminate its route and working area perfectly.

Fast, easy transport

The TA 230 Litronic from Liebherr features wide tyres, an optional tailgate and side mirrors which can be folded in without tools, but it maintains an overall width of less than 3 metres. This means that the articulated dump truck can be transported easily on a low-loader. This narrow width also means that in many countries, the licensing process for transport can be considerably simplified - saving companies time and money

Solid, positive locking articulation joint

The new TA 230 Litronic has an extremely sturdy articulation joint with tapered roller bearings, perfectly designed to handle the shearing stresses which occur during use. It is made of a solid casting to absorb maximum stresses and deliver perfect flowing movement. The articulation joint, mounted on the rear of the front end, makes an articulation angle of 45° possible.

Assistance system: weighing unit

The innovative weighing system in the TA 230 enables the payload to be recorded in real time. During the loading process, the current payload is shown on the display in both numerical form and as an easily identifiable symbol. All the recorded data is also displayed and made measurable in LiDAT, Liebherr’s own data transfer system. A loading traffic light system is available as an option. Mounted sensibly and safely on the rear sides of the cab, it enables the load status to be viewed from the exterior.

Assistance system: automatic differential lock

The Liebherr TA 230 is equipped with four powerful differential locks for maximum operational readiness off-road. The automatic inter-axle differential lock detects slippage at an early stage and intelligently distributes the torque between the front and rear axles - for constant propulsion, even in demanding conditions. In addition, the lateral differential locks can be engaged manually to provide additional traction if necessary. The result: high drawbar pull, driving stability and maximum performance in off-road use.

Assistance system: speed limit

The standard speed limiter prevents the machine from exceeding the preset speed. Activated via a key on the retarder lever, the system automatically limits speed once the desired value is reached. When travelling downhill, it works in combination with the engine brake and the infinitely variable retarder to maintain the set maximum speed. The wear-free retarder eliminates follow-up costs, protects the multi-disc

brakes, and ensures greater safety and comfort – even during long working days.

Assistance system: hard stop

To tip material easily and effectively, the new generation TA 230 has been fitted with a perfectly formed dump body with tapered sides so that even loamy, adhesive material is loosened easily. The optional dump body heating system, which uses the exhaust emissions, enables easy unloading even in low temperatures. To remove difficult material from the dump body, the TA 230 has a limit position dampening system on the lifting cylinders, which can be activated or deactivated at the touch of a button (hard stop). The faster and more efficiently it can be loaded and unloaded, the more productive the dump truck becomes.

Tested right to the limit

The Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH development and demonstration centre (EVZ) in Kirchdorf an der Iller is a unique validation facility in Europe for articulated dump trucks. At the core of the EVZ is a 1.200 metre rough track with specially created function-test areas as well as gravel and soil sections to simulate potholes, bumps and gradient hills. It enables structural tests over a very wide range of stresses to ensure the high-strength structure of the new TA 230 delivers extreme robustness, torsional rigidity and durability.
