Liebherr hotels
Where hospitality meets history
The story of Liebherr’s exclusive hotels has its roots in 1958, when company founder Hans Liebherr opened a new production site in a region lacking in accommodation options for visitors. This initial idea first gave rise to a guest house – followed a little later by his first hotel, The Europe, located on a picture-perfect plot right on the lakeside.
Today, Liebherr operates six luxury four- and five-star hotels in Ireland, Austria and Germany.

Hotel Europe, the first of the Group’s hotels
When company founder Hans Liebherr opens a new production site in the Irish town of Killarney in 1958, he realises the area is lacking in accommodation for visitors. He initially has a guest house built. A short time later, the entrepreneur acquires a plot of land right by the lake’s edge. Instead of building a factory as originally planned, he repurposes the idyllic plot for his first hotel, the ‘Europe’.
