Electromobility is not just the theme of the moment in the automotive industry. In line with our aspiration to shape industry trends over the long term, we are also pushing ahead with the electrification of our crane portfolio. Many towns and cities are already enforcing regulations to further minimise CO₂ emissions and to significantly reduce the noise pollution of construction projects. We are responding to these challenges with electric-powered mobile and crawler cranes.

The LTM 1150-5.4E satisfies the demands of “zero-emissions construction sites” and combines sustainability with maximum efficiency. With its electric drive, the 5-axle model carries out crane movements with zero emissions and reduced noise pollution. With an integrated battery, the LICCON-3 crane can operate independently for up to four hours without a connection to the power, while a small connected load on the construction site is enough to allow the crane’s full power to be unleashed - since the battery serves as an efficient buffer.

Zero emissions, full power

Customer benefits, working practice and economy go hand-in-hand with global and local environmental protection. We have developed a new version of our compact crane – the LTC 1050-3.1E – to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thus meet the "Local Zero Emissions" requirements, especially in cities. As an all-rounder, the crane continues to feature a conventional combustion engine, which can be powered with HVO or diesel on roads. This also applies to crane operation. Alternatively, its additional electric motor for crane operation enables emission-free working, for example inside buildings.

Mobile construction cranes - the solution is hybrid

Operating mobile construction cranes via an on-site power supply is easy and saves money. Even if the energy source available may only offer 32 Amps, MK mobile construction cranes can carry on working thanks to their intelligent energy management. If there is no electricity available on site at all, or if it is limited, the mobile, battery-based energy storage system Liduro Power Port (LPO) from Liebherr can take care of the supply.

As the heart of a construction site, MK mobile construction cranes share not only the load, but also the power: various other pieces of construction equipment can be operated via third-party consumer connections.

Crawlers cranes - unplugged

The world's first battery-powered crawler crane comes from Liebherr. We serve the market with a total of five models in our Unplugged series. Our cranes are powered by an electric motor. This means that they can be used on a conventional electrical connection or without a cable, i.e. “unplugged”, while at work.

Whether plugged in or unplugged, the performance and range of applications remain unchanged. One exceptional feature of the Unplugged models is their zero emissions. They produce zero exhaust gases and are extremely quiet.

The mobile energy storage device

Delivering up to 120 kW / kWh of electrical power, the Liduro Power Port, a battery-based mobile energy storage system from Liebherr, is ideal for the use of fully electric or hybrid construction equipment and its associated infrastructure.

"Because not all construction sites have a corresponding power supply and high-performance lines, we at Liebherr looked for our own ways of transporting electricity in high energy density to the construction site in order to supply machines with various performance ranges and peak loads directly on site in a mobile way or to supplement an existing but inadequate power grid.
