FAQs about product testing and testing orders at Liebherr
Why should companies commission Liebherr to carry out product testing?
Liebherr has accumulated a wealth of experience from almost 20 years of testing in the field of drive technology. Almost all relevant aspects of drive technology can be simulated using the various test benches. Some of the test benches, such as the main bearing test bench and the rope winch test bench, are unique in Europe. The combination of the versatility of the test benches and the comprehensive knowledge resources of the Liebherr team offers external companies valuable insights and inspiration for their own product optimization during product testing.
What is the advantage of commissioning Liebherr to test your own products?
Companies outside the Liebherr Group not only receive the desired test on their product or component and relevant results. They are also provided with appropriate project consulting, which evaluates the test results in relation to the state of the art and makes recommendations for product improvement.
What norms and standards are used for testing?
Liebherr tests both single parts and complete components. These are tested in accordance with current industry standards, depending on requirements. The service life test for wind turbine gearboxes is DNV-certified as a complete process. Liebherr tests all other components in accordance with its internal guidelines, which significantly exceed current industry standards in terms of quality requirements, or in accordance with customer specifications by agreement.
Which Liebherr departments are involved in product testing?
Depending on the test requirements and the services commissioned, other departments may also be involved in
- calculation and simulation
- design and
- material and component testing.
Can you be present during product testing at Liebherr?
Yes, if you commission Liebherr to conduct a product test, you can be present during the test at the drive technology test centre in Biberach. If this is not possible for the customer due to time constraints, the customer will receive detailed test and results documentation in any case.
What does the customer receive at the end of a product test at Liebherr?
Companies that commission Liebherr Drive Technology to conduct product tests receive a detailed report describing the process, test procedure, evaluation and a final summary including an interpretation of the results. On request, recommendations for optimizing the products can be commissioned as an additional service at an extra charge. The documentation can also be adapted to specific customer requirements by arrangement.
How does Liebherr guarantee confidentiality regarding tests and test results?
At the beginning of the collaboration, a joint confidentiality agreement is always defined and signed. Both parties adhere to this agreement.
Can Liebherr Drive Technology build and sell a test bench individually according to customer specifications?
JaYes, that is entirely possible. Liebherr Drive Technology has the specialist staff, expertise and capabilities to plan, design and build customised test benches and test stands. This has been implemented in recent years for individual divisions of the Liebherr Group and, depending on requirements, may also be possible for clients outside the Liebherr Group.
