From 21st to 26th of April 2018, Liebherr Components premieres at the World Tunnel Congress - the world's leading tunnelling event. This time, the trade show brings together tunnel and underground space experts in Dubai (UAE). To gain more visibility within the tunnelling industry, Liebherr is featuring its slewing bearings portfolio particularly designed for the tunnelling segment. These are, for example, main and erector bearings for the tunnelling boring machines.
Main bearings connect the cutter head with the thrust system and carry all the cutter head loads for a secure and continuous operation. For that, various bearing configurations may be used, for example, triple-row cylindrical roller bearings as main bearings or, alternatively, double-row tapered-roller bearings. Erector bearings are, in turn, designed as either single-row four-point bearings or cross-roller bearings. These are applied for the positioning of tunnel sections. The slewing bearings by Liebherr are specially developed for applications under rough underground conditions. The bearings are available with a diameter of up to 9,000 mm and are used in subway projects, for example in Mumbai, London and Qingdao. At steinexpo 2026 from 2 to 5 September 2026, Liebherr will be showcasing eight exhibits from its earthmoving, mining and components product ranges. A world first will be unveiled at stand A27, which covers an exhibition space of around 1,000 m². Also on display are a dump truck, two XPower wheel loaders, two Generation 8 crawler dozers, a grid-connected electric mining excavator, a telescopic handler and a mobile energy storage system.
