The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate the success of the country’s most exceptional apprentices and Apprenticeship employers. The winners were announced at a high profile awards ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, which was held in Cambridge in September 2014.
Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd. fought off tough competition to be shortlisted, and was announced as the winner of The BAE Systems Large Employer of the Year category at the Central Eastern ceremony. This is the second year in a row that Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd. has won the award as well as being named in last year’s prestigious TOP 100 companies list out of 220,000 companies offering apprenticeships.
The sales and service company is wholly committed to a culture of “growing their own” and developing their future talent from the ground up. Ultimately this has seen an overall increase in business benefits, return on the huge investments made, productivity, employee loyalty and increased customer satisfaction.
Lee Mason, Apprentice Programme Generalist at Liebherr, won the City & Guilds Apprentice Champion Award for his work in promoting and advocating apprenticeships after experiencing life as an apprentice, working with apprentices through teaching engineering and now developing Liebherr’s apprentice scheme whilst encouraging the next generation.
All the Central Eastern winners will now proceed through to a final national judging stage, and will have the opportunity to be crowned as the national winner in their category. The Apprenticeship employer entries that were judged to be the very best of the best will have the additional honour of featuring in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.
