Flossdorf expands fleet with a Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 mobile crane

The 500-tonne crane will replace an LTM 1350-6.1
The new LTM 1500-8.1 has a higher lifting capacity and is therefore suitable for a wider range of jobs
The perfect next step towards the large crane class

Dietmar Flossdorf GmbH took delivery of an LTM 1500-8.1 mobile crane at the Liebherr Plant in Ehingen in mid-March. The 8-axle 500-tonne mobile crane will replace a seven-year-old LTM 1350-6.1. The new crane will extend Flossdorf's range of services upwards. It provides additional job capacity, particularly in the wind power sector where it will primarily be used for repairs and repowering.

The LTM 1500-8.1 is the first 8-axle crane in the Flossdorf fleet. "The new crane represents the perfect next step into the large crane class", says Operations Manager Stephan Wassmuth. He focuses on the good reputation, technical sophistication and practical handling of the time-tested Liebherr crane being the main criteria behind the purchase. "As a result of the new challenges we face in the wind power industry, the 7-year old LTM 1350-6.1 has reached the limits of its capacity. The new 500-tonne crane will give us more opportunities to tackle repair work and repowering jobs on wind turbines which will mean that the crane will extend our range of services", continues Wassmuth. Not only does Flossdorf plan to use the LTM 1500-8.1 throughout Germany in the wind power sector, but also for other hoisting work.

Flossdorf was founded in 1953 and now has a 50-strong workforce. Flossdorf already has 50 years of experience with cranes as it bought its first mobile crane in 1967. In addition to mobile crane rental, Dietmar Flossdorf GmbH also provides rescue, breakdown and towing services. The company has a fleet comprising around 20 cranes and 10 heavy duty tractor units to cover all these different types of work.
