With a maximum lifting capacity of 40 tonnes, the HS 8040.1 is the smallest in the proven HS series. However, when it comes to compactness, it comes up trumps. A transport weight of less than 40 tonnes makes it the perfect choice if the machine has to be transferred frequently between job sites.

Compact
The standard version impresses with the most compact swinging radius in its class, namely 3.5 m. Thus, the duty cycle crawler crane can fully utilize its manoeuvrability in confined spaces and is highly flexible in its application.
Optimal design
Engine power, free-fall winches and boom length are optimally matched to one another.
Comfort
This includes a modern air-conditioning system with improved airflow, an optimized field of vision and increased noise protection, as well as an orthopaedic operator’s seat with integrated heating and cooling.
Low transport weight
Thanks to its transport weight of less than 40 t including counterweight, the machine can be easily and flexibly transferred between job sites.
A-Frame
The improved A-frame system with transport position to the front does not only shorten the transport length but also simplifies erection or lowering of the boom, as well as setting-up of the machine.
Safety
The rails and walkways on the uppercarriage, which enable safe access to all service and maintenance points, do not have to be dismounted during transportation.

Longer uppercarriage
The version with longer uppercarriage has the counterweight and therefore the centre of gravity further to the rear. This means the lifting capacities are significantly increased, which is a big advantage especially in dragline operation.
Recording of working processes (PDE)
With the PDE process data recording system machine data is recorded during the working process.
Control system for dragline operation
The "interlock" control system for dragline operations ensures powered lowering with drag winch, while lifting of the bucket with the hoist winch. This reduces fuel consumption and minimizes wear of the free fall brake.
Slurry wall grab control
This is an electronic control for precise lowering of the grab. It protects the grab during positioning, prevents caving in of the trench due to high speeds, saves fuel, and is simple to handle.
Automated control system for dynamic soil compaction
For dynamic soil compaction an automated control system can be used. It allows for precise operating cycles and minimizes rope wear.
Eco silent mode
With the eco silent mode the engine speed can be reduced to a predefined, required level. With this feature a notable reduction in diesel consumption can be achieved without any impact on operational output. Noise emissions are thus also lowered.
Slurry wall installation with grab
A clamshell grab excavates the slurry wall panels.
Dragline operation
Typical applications with dragline bucket include the excavation of various bulk goods, such as gravel and sand, from rivers or quarries.
Grab operation
Fitted with a range of different mechanical or hydraulic grabs, duty cycle crawler cranes are used for typical material handling tasks with large working radii.
Drilling with bored pile grab
Drilling with bored pile grab is a dry drilling method loosening the building ground either by cutting or by impacting – depending on the working tool used.
Dredging
Dredging is necessary when sediment settles and leads to shallow water, which impairs the shipping industry.
Impact compaction
For impact compaction a tamper weight is dropped to the ground from a great height.
