LH 40 M Port E and LH 60 M High Rise Port E: Electrifying in port handling
Port handling is going electric: With the LH 40 M Port E and LH 60 M High Rise Port E, Liebherr is presenting two electric material handlers at Bauma that have been specially designed for the efficient handling of bulk and general cargo in ports. Their electric drive concept enables emission-free and low-noise operation with low operating and maintenance costs. While the LH 40 M Port E with its 145 kW electric motor enables dynamic work movements, the LH 60 M High Rise Port E impresses with its weight-optimised design, high payloads with long ranges and the 180 kW electric motor.
Munich (Germany), 07 April 2025 - With its comprehensive portfolio of material handling machines, Liebherr offers the optimum solution for a wide range of applications: in scrap and port handling, in the timber industry and in waste management. The machines are characterised by high performance, durability and innovative technologies. Thanks to state-of-the-art hydraulic systems and energy-efficient drives, they offer an optimum combination of power, precision and economy.
Liebherr is constantly developing its machines through continuous innovations, such as different drive concepts or intelligent assistance systems. At this year's Bauma, Liebherr is presenting the LH 40 M Port E and LH 60 M High Rise Port E, two machines with an electric drive concept.
Efficient handling solution for the port: the LH 60 M High Rise Port E
The LH 60 M High Rise Port E material handler was specially developed for the efficient handling of bulk and general cargo in harbours. With a reach of over 23 metres and a system output of 312 kW, it combines high payloads with great flexibility. The 180 kW electric motor ensures emission-free and low-noise operation at full power. Thanks to an operating weight of 71,300 to 80,300 kg, the machine guarantees high stability, even under demanding conditions.
The weight-optimised design enables precise and powerful loading processes, which further increases efficiency in port operations. In addition, the LH 60 M High Rise Port E offers flexible configuration options for different applications thanks to its modular design. Depending on requirements, orange peel grabs with a volume of 0.90 to 3.00 m³, bulk material grabs with 3.00 to 8.00 m³ and timber grabs with a capacity of 1.30 to 3.60 m² are available.
Another highlight is the infinitely height-adjustable cab. This allows the machine operator to vary the height of the cab by up to six metres to position it for optimum visibility. The machine bears the name High Rise thanks to the tower elevation of two metres between the uppercarriage and undercarriage. This provides a perfect overview of ships, storage areas and containers − making work easier and increasing safety. With its combination of high performance, economy and environmental friendliness, the LH 60 M High Rise Port E is a future-oriented solution for modern port handling. The machine is also equipped with a winding system that winds and unwinds the 50 metre long cable itself when reversing.
Powerful electric material handler LH 40 M Port E
Liebherr will be presenting the LH 40 M Port E at Bauma 2025. The material handler with an operating weight of around 43 tonnes is characterised by very high load capacities and long ranges. Thanks to the electric drive concept and the powerful electric motor, the machine operates emission-free and particularly quietly and impresses with low operating and maintenance costs. The centrepiece of the material handler is a 145 kW electric motor, which ensures powerful and dynamic work movements. Furthermore, the innovative drive concept includes an additional electric motor for auxiliary consumers, which ensures conscious energy distribution and maximum energy efficiency.
The weight-optimised equipment ensures powerful loading processes and maximum efficiency in port handling. This guarantees maximum performance at minimum cost per tonne of material handled. In addition, the modular design enables customised solutions for a wide range of requirements. Thanks to the weight-optimised equipment, the powerful machine can also be used in other areas of application in addition to port handling. At Bauma, the LH 40 M Port E can be seen with a trailing cable; alternatively, it can also be equipped with a winding system. In addition, the exhibit at the trade fair has a port boom with a length of 10.6 metres and a 7.7 metre long stick.
Extensive portfolio of Liebherr attachment tools
In combination with the LH 60 M High Rise Port E, Liebherr will also be showing three attachments from its extensive portfolio: the GMH 40 timber grab, the GMM 50-5 orange peel grab and the GMZ 80 clamshell grab. The three attachments are representative of the various areas of application in which Liebherr material handlers can be used. In addition to the three attachments mentioned, Liebherr will be presenting further representatives from its extensive product portfolio at its own stand in Hall B5 Stand 439 at Bauma.
