Thanks to its optional self-ballasting system, the MK 88-4.2E can install its base ballast, including additional ballast, without the need for an auxiliary crane. The crane is optionally fitted with electro-hydraulic outriggers and ballast, making it versatile for use in urban areas. For these operations, the crane can be powered either by the site’s electricity supply or by a battery power pack. This means that no direct CO₂ emissions are produced from the crane engine on site.

Flexible driving configurations:

An axle load of ≤ 22.050 lb / ≤ 10 t can be achieved by using removable and divisible ballast, as well as detachable sliding struts.

Optional self-ballasting:

These processes do not result in any direct CO₂ emissions at the site, as the internal combustion engine is not running and the crane is powered by electricity from the construction site or a battery power pack.

ECOmode

When ECOmode is activated, it controls the speed of the diesel motor automatically in line with the operating speed requested by the crane operator using the control lever. Depending on the model and the specific operating and usage conditions, this can help reduce fuel consumption.

ECOdrive

ECOdrive reduces the diesel engine's rpm and enables faster gear shifts, which can improve ride comfort and off-road performance. On the road, the control system uses engine torque as needed; as a result, fuel consumption can be reduced - depending on the model, driving style, and defined operating conditions - compared to driving without ECOdrive.

Driver assistance systems

Mobile cranes with the E symbol feature an optional electric motor for crane operation. This allows for flexible switching between diesel and electro-hydraulic drive systems for crane operation. In purely electro-hydraulic crane operation, no motor-related exhaust gas emissions are produced.
