See the future with LICCON3
“What happens if ...?” – Looking into the future could sometimes help us to make better decisions or even avoid damage.
We have now created such a tool for our new LICCON3 crane control system – we call it the “load preview“. Jannis Gasch from our Mobile Crane Acceptance explains what this new tool is all about.

“The load preview is particularly helpful if you cannot fully extend all the outriggers on a cramped construction site. The variable support base VarioBase® secures the crane work via the LICCON control unit’s load moment limiter. The extension length and support force of every single support is measured and the maximum lifting capacities for this situation are calculated by the crane control. If the crane reaches a critical range due to the turning or luffing movements, the control system stops the movement automatically.
Until now, the crane driver could not see when the critical area begins. Load tables do not help with unevenly extended outriggers. Therefore, the only option up to now has been the time-consuming simulation of crane movements with the LICCON lift planner.
Use the load preview for quick and easy on-site lift planning directly from the crane cab.
This is precisely where the load preview comes in: the operator can see on the screen which position the boom is currently in and what would happen if the crane were to turn or the boom were to luff. The movement range is marked with three colours, which stand for the crane utilisation. In the green area we are within 90 % crane utilisation, in the yellow area the utilisation increases towards 100 % and the red area indicates where the load moment limitation will switch-off the crane movements. The crane operator can therefore see at any time whether the desired target position of his load can be reached with the current setup status and the current boom length.
We presented the load preview to our guests for the first time at the 2024 customer days and received a lot of helpful feedback and suggestions. This feedback has been integrated into the further development work. All LICCON3 cranes now have this new feature as standard, and we have also retrofitted existing models accordingly.”
