Strength in motion: slewing bearings for Cimolai Technology’s rail-mounted boom cranes

Liebherr’s components product segment enters a collaboration with Cimolai Technology, a leading provider of special and innovative solutions for handling and lifting purposes. As part of the project, Liebherr is supplying high-quality slewing bearings for four rail-mounted boom cranes by Cimolai Technology. Once fully assembled, the 50-ton cranes will facilitate the loading and unloading of ships in the shipyard in Dubai and facilitate port operations. By joining outstanding quality and high standards, Liebherr and Cimolai Technology take the next step in strengthening their activities in the maritime industry. “We are proud to be part of this project and are excited about the beginning of a partnership that is set to grow further in the future,” says Roberto Cimolai, CEO of Cimolai Technology.

Strengthening the maritime and offshore industry

Liebherr’s slewing bearings contribute to the performance of Cimolai Technology’s rail-mounted boom cranes by ensuring smooth and reliable operation under extreme conditions. Specifically designed for harsh maritime environments, the roller bearings with a diameter of almost five metres feature advanced corrosion protection. A special C5-H coating is tailored to withstand high salt exposure in coastal and offshore applications, and in that to extend the durability of the slewing bearings.

Furthermore, the raceway system of the slewing bearings is engineered to bear extremely high loads, ensuring maximum safety and operational reliability. “Our slewing bearings are specifically designed for the extreme conditions of the maritime industry”, says Enrico Menozzi, head of sales Europe drive technology at Liebherr Components in Biberach (Germany). “The partnership between the two family-run companies allows us to bring our proven quality and durability to challenging port and offshore applications.”

steinexpo 2026: Liebherr showcases its expertise in machinery and digital innovations for the extraction industry
At steinexpo 2026 from 2 to 5 September 2026, Liebherr will be showcasing eight exhibits from its earthmoving, mining and components product ranges. A world first will be unveiled at stand A27, which covers an exhibition space of around 1,000 m².
