Ten-year partnership agreement with Transnet

Liebherr and Transnet Port Terminals have signed a landmark ten-year partnership agreement. The collaboration underscores their shared commitment to modernising and enhancing South Africa’s port operations. Key to the agreement are STS, RTG, and RMG cranes, driving efficiency and innovation across terminals. A 20-year asset management programme ensures sustained reliability and performance of this critical infrastructure.

Happy BOSday!

Liebherr celebrates 50 years of Board offshore crane (BOS) crane innovation, a tradition built on reliability and offshore expertise. Since 1975, BOS cranes have supported operators worldwide with robust design and marine adaptability. Over the decades, they have set standards in lifting technology, combining power and precision for the toughest offshore challenges. Half a century on, BOS cranes remain a benchmark for strength, precision and offshore versatility.

Liebherr LHM 550 strengthens heavy-lift operations of BLG LOGISTICS in Bremerhaven

BLG LOGISTICS has strengthened its heavy-lift capabilities at Bremerhaven with a new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane. Featuring a 4.8-metre tower extension, 54-metre reach, and a 154-tonne lifting capacity, the crane is designed for versatile handling of heavy and project cargo. Also equipped with an electric drive, the LHM 550 can potentially contribute to low-emission port logistics and supports BLG’s goal of reducing emissions. This strategic investment ensures efficiency and flexibility at one of Europe’s busiest RoRo and vehicle terminals.

When two become one

From Killarney, Ireland, to the quays of Hamburg! We are proud to share the journey of our three Liebherr ship-to-shore dual trolley cranes for HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder in Hamburg, Germany. The STS cranes are the first three of nine dual trolley, automated STS cranes ordered as part of a strategic alliance between HHLA and Liebherr Container Cranes. The cranes were transported semi-erect on a heavy-load carrier. This allowed the booms to stay lowered for safe bridge clearance and to be raised to full height on arrival using our unique patent-pending jacking system.

Electric LPS 420 powers Turkish exports

Nuh Çimento, one of Türkiye’s largest cement producers, has upgraded its private port in Hereke with a Liebherr LPS 420 portal slewing crane featuring electric drive technology. The new crane replaces an LPS 400 that served for 25 years, marking a generational leap in efficiency and sustainability. With a lifting capacity of 124 tonnes and a maximum turnover of 1,500 tonnes per hour, the LPS 420 supports high-volume bulk handling for clinker and cement exports to over 40 countries. This investment ensures operational continuity, reduces local emissions, and strengthens Nuh Çimento’s position as a key player in global construction supply chains.

Two CBG 500 E projects advance

The first CBG 500 E crane is complete and ready for Associated Terminals, while its counterpart is already being assembled. These achievements demonstrate our engineering expertise and commitment to customer success. With both cranes on track, we’re ensuring smooth operations for the future. Efficiency and reliability remain at the core of our work.

Next generation of maritime talents

On 1 September, our production plant in Rostock, Germany, welcomed 51 apprentices across ten different training paths. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey for our new talents, and we wish them success, curiosity, and enthusiasm as they start this important phase of their careers.

At Liebherr, vocational training means more than learning a profession – it’s about fostering growth, sharing knowledge, and building a foundation for long-term success.

In this context, we are proud to share another milestone: For the 15th time in a row, Liebherr Rostock has been recognised as a TOP training company by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Liebherr mobile harbour cranes of Italian trade

Four Liebherr mobile harbour cranes have been delivered to strengthen operations at key Italian terminals. IPM Bari has added two LHM 550 with electric drive, supporting heavy and project cargo handling while enabling locally emission-free operation when connected to shore power. Naples and Porto Marghera have integrated two LHM 420 into their operations, ensuring flexibility for tasks such as grain discharge for pasta production, ship repair, and bulk cargo handling. These cranes combine high lifting capacity with advanced operator comfort and agile mobility, helping Italian ports enhance efficiency and sustainability in a growing logistics landscape.
