John Paul Construction praises Liebherr’s Fibre-Technology update

Almost 300 Fibre-Cranes are in use worldwide since the market launch in 2019 - with growing popularity in overseas markets too. The extended value proposition of the Fibre-Cranes in combination with the technical developments convince.

Since the market launch of the Liebherr fibre rope, the innovative technology has proven itself worldwide. Not only are customers in European markets convinced by the advantages of the innovation, but its popularity is also growing in overseas markets. At Bauma 2025, Liebherr is presenting comprehensive further developments that continue to strengthen the Fibre-Technology solution.

John Paul Construction embraces innovation

‘We have found the transition to using a fibre rope very smooth. The same erection process applies to the fibre rope as our other steel rope cranes,’ explains a representative from John Paul Construction. ‘The process has actually sped up as the fibre rope and its lightweight characteristics make handling and installation much more efficient.’

Improvement trough innovation

The fibre rope weighs only around a fifth of a conventional steel rope, enabling a significant increase in crane performance by up to 40 percent. At the same time, the reduced rope weight makes assembly and servicing much easier. The rope is particularly low-wear and long-lasting, the extension of the overall service life to 14 years increases the value of each rope enormously. Safety during operation is also guaranteed: the different wear conditions are clearly identifiable by colour coding on the sheath. Trials on the test bench and experience gained in the field have shown that the fibre rope is less sensitive to concrete edges and similar sources of failure than the steel rope.

In addition to the technical improvements, Liebherr is offering an improvement to its service and business model at Bauma 2025, which has been specially developed for fleet operators. Part of this is the update of the additional Fibre-Care warranty with an adjusted price and an improved process. Consistently high demand, extensive experience in development and sales in combination with internal improvements, such as optimised warehousing, also make it possible to significantly reduce the price of replacement ropes.
