Liebherr-Components Colmar SAS

Founded in 2011, Liebherr-Components Colmar SAS began operations in 2014 in Colmar, France, adjacent to Liebherr-Mining Equipment SAS. This brand-new facility is fully dedicated to the development, design, assembly, and testing of large combustion engines. It complements and builds upon the long-standing engine manufacturing expertise of Liebherr Machines Bulle in Switzerland, which has served as the group’s primary site for combustion engine production since 1984.

By combining Liebherr’s decades of experience in the mining industry with its deep technical know-how as an engine manufacturer, the Colmar facility has enabled the development of the D98 and D99 engine series — each offered in V12, V16, and V20 variants. These high-performance engines significantly strengthen Liebherr’s portfolio and provide powerful solutions tailored to the most demanding industries such as mining and power generation.

Driving the future of large engine development

The Liebherr D98 and D99 combustion engines series are engineered for high performance. Designed to meet the most demanding emission standards, they are perfectly suited not only for mining applications but also for applications of the power generation industry.

A state-of-the-art facility

To support the development of these next-generation engines, Liebherr made significant investments in cutting-edge infrastructure and technology. Liebherr-Components Colmar SAS features advanced test benches and an automated assembly line, enabling the production of high-quality, large-scale combustion engines that set new industry benchmarks.
