Unwanted noises in the drivetrain are often caused during the manufacturing process: In e-mobility in particular, the smallest errors on the gear surface have a significant impact on subsequent NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) characteristics. A new high-frequency sensor system, LHProcessMonitoring, enables even finer measurements and detects even the smallest process deviations at an early stage.
If anomalies in gear production are only detected during the end-of-line inspection, the cost of remachining or rejects increases considerably. To avoid this, the LHProcessMonitoring software from Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has been enhanced to include a high-frequency sensor system for inline process monitoring. It detects vibrations up to 13 kHz and makes deviations visible before they affect component quality or sound levels.
Making deviations visible early
The connection of external acceler-ation sensors significantly expands the frequency range that can be analyzed. The sensors are specifically positioned at key points in the machine so that even high-frequency signals can be precisely recorded and evaluated. Anomalies become visible directly during the ongoing process and can be evaluated immediately. This reduces rejects and supports reliable production – especially for NVH-critical components.

Monitoring processes reliably and accurately
LHProcessMonitoring continuously analyzes the relevant process parameters and automatically detects limit violations. This prevents defective parts from reaching downstream process steps in the first place, and component quality remains consistently high. In addition to grinding applications, the software is now also used for hobbing, shaping and skiving.
