2018 was an exceptional year for the New Zealand Crane Industry. Strong economic conditions produced record demand for lifting equipment for infrastructure and high rise development.
Liebherr-Australia Mobile and Crawler Crane Division in New Zealand enjoyed the benefits of this and delivered a record number of units in 2018 to our major customers and, very pleasingly, to a few first time Liebherr owners.

Permit-free from south to north: new Liebherr LTM 1055-3.3 mobile crane for Schlamann-Autokrane GmbH
The LTM 1055-3.3 is the second of four new Liebherr mobile cranes ordered by Schlamann-Autokrane GmbH this year. The new 55-tonne crane is the lightest 3-axle all-terrain crane on the market: it travelled from the Liebherr plant in Ehingen, Upper Swabia, to Nienburg in Lower Saxony without the need for complex authorisation procedures.

Game of Cranes returns: Liebherr is looking for the world’s best mobile crane operator
Following its successful debut last year, Game of Cranes is returning: companies from around the world can once again nominate their best crane operators. Participants will demonstrate precision, dexterity and nerves of steel in a series of demanding challenges. Community voting, evaluation by a Liebherr expert panel and five regional qualifying rounds will pave the way to the grand final in Ehingen in 2027.
