At Agritechnica, KRONE presents its BiG Pack 1290 HDP II with a new main gearbox by Liebherr, which further increases the performance and efficiency of the baler.
Liebherr and KRONE are breaking new ground together. After several years of extremely successful use of Liebherr engine technology in the forage harvester BiG X and in the self-propelled mower conditioner BiG M, Liebherr is now also supplying the extremely robust main gearbox for the large square balers of the BiG Pack HDP II 1290 (VC). With the successor model to the legendary BiG Pack 1290 HDP II, KRONE is redefining the standards in professional straw harvesting. Designed to meet the highest demands, it combines maximum baling density of up to 235 kg/m³, enormous throughput of up to 85 tonnes per hour and intelligent control technology with maximum ease of use and durability.
This poses enormous challenges, especially on the main gearbox, the centrepiece of every large square baler. A large flywheel, weighing over 600 kg and rotating at 1160 rpm, is used as a power buffer, when the stable plunger presses the crop against the line with up to 15% more force than the previous model. Thanks to a safety feature of 10,000 Nm, even power outputs of well over 500 hp are possible at the PTO shaft.
Following intensive testing at KRONE's own "Future Lab" validation centre and successful practical use with several hundred thousand pressed bales, the BiG Pack HDP II 1290 now comes with the further reinforced Liebherr gearbox as standard. Due to the robust design of the gearbox, the maximum transmissible power has been further increased – for even greater efficiency and reliability under the toughest operating conditions.
