Accounting InternNewport News, VA

The Accounting Intern position is responsible for assisting with the function of the financial accounting, corporate treasury and sales tax along with accounts payable and receivable departments. These areas will include Treasury, Sales and Use Tax, Accounts Receivable and Payables, and General Ledger Accounting.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Accounting staff on projects outlined in the individual intern training plan.
• Works independently and as a team member with Accounting personnel or on ad hoc projects.
• Works with Treasury staff on daily projects outlined in the individual intern training plan.
• Works with Tax staff to assist with research and calculating tax.

Competencies

• Current active student in good standing enrolled and attending an accredited educational institution working on a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong math aptitude in addition, multiplication, subtraction, division, and percentages.
• Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers.
• Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a team member.
• Ability to work with different personalities.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
