Minimised maintenance and reduced total cost of ownership

Liebherr undercarriages are designed to reduce routine maintenance and keep machines productive for as long as possible:

Lifetime sealed: carrier rollers, track rollers, and idlers are lubricated for life, reducing maintenance requirements and eliminating regular greasing.
Heavy-duty design: optimised selected steel grades provide high mechanical strength and hardness, minimising wear and helping reduce operating costs per hour.
Automatic track tensioning: excavators above 400 tonnes feature automatic track tensioning systems with pressurised cylinders and accumulators, ensuring optimal track tension while minimising onsite adjustment.

Superior protection in harsh environments

Mining undercarriages operate in constant contact with rocks, mud and debris. Liebherr uses layered protection to safeguard critical components:

Double lifetime sealing: comes as standard so final drives’ internal gears are protected from dust and mud.
Harsh condition options: Liebherr provides a range of heavy-duty protection packages, including travel gear and sprocket guards, track chain guides, idler protection and belly plates. These solutions are engineered for the toughest mining conditions, protecting critical components from impact, abrasion and debris.

Logistical efficiency and service access

Liebherr undercarriage modular design approach supports easy maintenance:

Modular three-piece design: removable side frames are optional for Liebherr’s 100- and 150-tonne class excavators and come as standard for 200- through to 800-tonne class machines.
Easy maintenance access: multiple service access points are integrated into the side frames, facilitating maintenance for all Liebherr excavators.
