Liebherr at Metro Trans China 2025: More climate-friendly HVAC solutions for the railway industry

China's urbanization is accelerating and people depend even more on transportation. Efficient and fast transport is not only fundamental of urban operation, but also has a big influence on the quality of life of residents and the economic vitality of cities. China promotes the construction of rail transportation and is committed to creating an urban rail network with extensive coverage and smooth connections.

Liebherr-Transportation Systems is supporting China's rail industry with its products and looks forward to welcoming customers and visitors to the International Metro Transit Exhibition and CAMET Forum in Qingdao (China).

From September 18 to 20, the company will present its innovations and technologies, which are helping to meet demand in the railway sector and make it more climate-friendly. Visitors can look forward to see Liebherr's propane-based heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system at booth no. S5431 in hall 5. The company will exhibit both, a driver’s cabin unit as well as a saloon unit.

As the domestic biggest railway fair, Metro Trans always has been and is a meeting point for industry experts and decision makers to get together with top suppliers and the global customer base to discuss the industry trends and advanced technologies..

“This event is a great platform to network with different stakeholders from the rail industry,” said Andreas Walter, General Manager of Liebherr Transportation Systems (China) Co. Ltd. “As a member of the domestic rail market, we are very happy to take this opportunity to understand the real needs of customers and learn more about market trends. It’s an honor to show our capabilities here. We hope to be able to contribute to the rail industry continuously and to cooperate with industry customers to create a brilliant future together.”

Propane: Maximum cooling performance with minimal environmental impact thanks to propane

The HVAC technology developed by Liebherr using propane as refrigerant is easy to service and guarantees rail vehicle operators a reliable product solution with low downtime. The concept takes all relevant safety requirements, such as the flammability for the refrigerant, into account.

Propane (R290) is a natural alternative to conventional, environmentally harmful refrigerants. In terms of pressure, it is very similar to the refrigerant R134. With a GWP of up to three, it provides a low greenhouse potential as well as maximum cooling performance with minimal energy consumption.
