Congratulations Typhoon to 500,000 Flight Hours of
In-service Operation!
The fleet of over 550 Eurofighters/Typhoons has passed last year the half-million flight hour milestone, proving the success of the multirole fighter that first went into operational service in 2003.
Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH (Germany), Liebherr’s center of excellence for flight controls, hydraulics, actuation, landing gears and transmissions, supplies extensive equipment for the Typhoon, including the:
- Nose landing gear and retraction actuator
- Main landing gear side stays
- Fly-by-wire primary flight control actuators
- Airframe mounted accessory drive (AMAD) gearbox
- Airbrake actuator servo control
- Engine driven hydraulic pump
- Filter package units
These packages demonstrate the extensive range of products and systems available from Liebherr-Aerospace: Landing gear structure and system integration, flight controls, hydraulic power generation and control as well as diverse output components.
The technology developed and made by Liebherr contributed to the exceptional performance and reliability of this very successful program that just passed this remarkable milestone of 500,000 flying hours.
Intended initially as strictly an air superiority fighter during early development, the Typhoon now performs multirole duty for the air forces of Austria, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. The air forces of Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar are export customers.
