No Chance for Ice
Liebherr’s expertise in nacelle anti-ice valves for commercial and military transport aircraft builds upon a long experience of supplying high-reliability, lightweight high-pressure and high-temperature valves to the aviation industry.
An example of our impressive track record covers the nacelle anti-ice valve of the Boeing B747-8 aircraft, latest born of the prestigious 747 family. A fleet of 133 B747-8 is in service and has accumulated 2.5 million flight hours. Four of our anti-ice valves are on board each aircraft and we are proud to say that so far, there were no in-service issues. The valves even exceeded reliability expectations.
Another example is the nacelle anti-ice valve on board Airbus’ military transport four-engine turboprop A400M. 80 aircraft were delivered so far, and the A400M fleet cumulated close to 40,000 flight hours. In a particularly severe vibration and operating environment, our valve works exceptionally reliably
Nacelle anti-ice valves developed, manufactured, tested and certified by Liebherr are also to be used in an engine build-up system for A320neos equipped with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engine. Our valves are packaged into ship-sets of two pneumatic valves per nacelle, a redundancy designed to prevent engine overheating.
