Landing gear overhaul: a matter of specialists

Liebherr-Aerospace, as an OEM, is not only in the business of designing and manufacturing landing gear systems for aircraft, we also support these products in the aftermarket with a unique combination of technical expertise and a versed contract management.

The multi-year services agreements are challenging: offering available rotable gear, gathering all back-to-birth documentation, remaining flexible with capacity constraints and changing schedules make this activity quite complex.

We put a great deal of effort into providing our customers with a high level of logistics and MRO services.

Relying on our expertise and contract management skills, our goal and top priority is to minimize aircraft downtime.

How do we manage such major service agreements? “Landing gear overhauls are a matter of great responsibility, good planning and close communication,” says Martin Berg, one of our Contract Managers who are the points of contact for our customers throughout the whole overhaul process performed at Liebherr-Aerospace in Lindenberg (Germany) or in Saline, Michigan (USA).

And the figure is impressive: up to now we have performed already more than 3,000 leg overhauls!
