Innovation: A Great Combination

After two years of development, the new air management system developed and manufactured by Liebherr-Aerospace, will enter into service next year on ATR’s 42/72 aircraft family. The regional aircraft program will benefit from this highly reliable system as it generates and enhances on-board comfort for passengers and crew while substantially reducing operation costs.

…and our customer will benefit from the combination of an innovative product and best-in-class support as we will also include predictive maintenance services through the identification of failed equipment before the annunciation of a subsequent system operation failure, to enhance the support of the aircraft operators, by reducing operational interruptions (OI rate), optimizing the Line Replaceable Units spares inventory planning, and reinforcing the capabilities in fleet technical management with deeper understanding of the component behavior. We will develop an advanced algorithm to analyze data of the new air management system, taking advantage of our thorough product and system know-how as well as in-service experience.

The reliability of our new air management system is monitored through the System Maintenance Advisor (SMA) guaranteeing the most advanced and accurate troubleshooting.

Developed by our experts, this software eases the operator’s maintenance tasks, because it provides identification of faulty equipment and relevant troubleshooting information according to the Aircraft Trouble Shooting manual.

Based on our product life-cycle expertise, we designed the SMA to be ergonomic and efficient: Once the aircraft operating data have been downloaded by the customer, the SMA delivers key information from the Integrated Air Management System (IAMS) controller in real time, which makes the maintenance of the system easier.

Ranging from the visualization of current failures to full report of detected faults stored in the controller memory, the SMA also allows conducting Initiated Built In Test (IBIT) guaranteeing a smooth system maintenance and fast return to service process.

…and there is more to come: In its future advanced version, the SMA by Liebherr intends to host extra web-based features providing a full health monitoring solution for the system.
