Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH is expanding its crane fleet with a Liebherr mobile crane for the first time. With the LTM 1090-4.2, the company is investing in a powerful 90-tonne crane that combines high lifting capacity and reach with maximum mobility. The four-axle crane specifically fills the gap between the 60- and 100-tonne crane classes in the Lower Franconia-based company’s fleet. In addition to the crane technology, innovative assistance systems and the robust Liebherr service network were key factors in the decision.
The investment in the LTM 1090-4.2 was the result of a clear market observation: the demand for compact yet powerful mobile cranes is rising. “We are seeing growing demand for compact machines that have enough power for demanding lifts but do not require complex permitting procedures for heavy-haul transport,” explains Florian Schebler, authorized signatory and commercial director of Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH. “With a 90-tonne crane, we can efficiently handle many jobs for which a smaller crane would be too weak, and a 120-tonne crane would already be too unwieldy.”
The choice was deliberately made in favour of the LTM 1090-4.2. The mobile crane combines a 60-meter telescopic boom with the compactness of a four-axle vehicle. “It provides us with high performance and manoeuvrability – in short: the best combination of mobility, lifting capacity, and state-of-the-art safety technology currently available on the market,” says Schebler. The tried-and-tested Liebherr technologies were particularly impressive: VarioBallast® enables quick adjustment of the ballast radius – a decisive advantage in confined spaces. VarioBase® allows for variable support of each individual crane outrigger, thereby increasing safety and load capacity, even when obstacles are present on the construction site. And ECOdrive & ECOmode help reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions and support operations in sensitive environments.
The new LTM 1090-4.2 is intended to serve as a versatile all-rounder at Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH. Its main areas of application include steel and hall construction, prefabricated house construction, industrial services in confined factory facilities, and tower crane assembly.
The Liebherr 90-tonne crane fills a strategic gap in the existing crane portfolio. “The LTM 1090-4.2 is the perfect complement between our flexible 60-tonne cranes and the 100-tonme model,” Schebler emphasizes. “In terms of mobility, it offers nearly the same compactness as the smaller cranes, yet its lifting capacity and reach come close to those of the 100-ton class – this gives us enormous flexibility for our projects.” The investment does not replace any existing crane but is part of a targeted capacity expansion. This move is driven by a strong order book as well as increasing demands for lifting height and operational flexibility.
With the LTM 1090-4.2, Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH is expanding its fleet to a total of four mobile cranes and one truck loader crane. In addition to Liebherr’s technological market leadership, the company’s well-known excellent service and spare parts availability were decisive factors in the decision to choose Liebherr.
Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH currently employs 36 people and is a nationwide rental company specializing in aerial access equipment, industrial trucks, and mobile cranes.
