Container Crane InspectorKillarney
The Container Crane Inspector will be based in Killarney with frequent global travel required as part of the role. The successful candidate will perform statutory and thorough examinations and condition assessments on container handling cranes and associated lifting equipment for customers globally. The role ensures compliance with applicable legislation, safeguards operational safety, and provide clear evidence-based recommendations in written report for our customers. Inspections cover structural integrity, mechanical and electrical systems, safety devices, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following.
- Plan and conduct thorough examinations of container handling cranes and lifting equipment
- Use duty-cycle data and service history to develop data-based recommendations for maintenance
- Prepare and distribute clear and detailed reports including categorised and prioritised recommendations
- Ensure reports adhere to the applicable standards and directives
- Brief customer operations and maintenance on safety findings and priorities, to balance risk, downtime and commercial constraints
- Support post review and proposals for recommendations contained in reports
- Cooperate with engineering departments to present / discuss findings and recommendations for product improvement
- Actively engage with customers to clearly understand their needs and requirements for inspections
- Monitor competition, technical advances and technology in methods for inspections
- Develop technology and processes for minimising downtime and inspection requirements
- Grow and develop the role and function of a Container Crane Inspector, and contribute to the development of the global team
- Cooperate and support our global mixed-sales-companies
- Contribute to continuous improvement and improving the customer experience
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management
Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or higher diploma in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering; or equivalent trade with formal inspection/ NDT certification
- Experience inspecting large machines and lifting equipment
Container handling cranes, an advantage - NDT level II an advantage
- Full and clean driving licence
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of applications (outlook, word, excel, etc.)

- Ability to synthesise inspection observations, standard requirements and duty data into clear recommendations
- Meticulous attention to detail and quality focus
- Systems thinking to understand interaction between mechanical, electrical and structural sub-systems
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation abilities
- Strong coordination and organizational skills
- Competent with the necessary tools and equipment required to inspect, and digital tools to prepare a report
- Working at height, in an exposed port environment
- Flexibility, to suit customer schedules and equipment availability
