Liebherr Tower Cranes and its Swedish partner Alfab held the first Nordic Tower Crane Days on 20 and 21 May 2026. Around 40 participants from 14 partner companies gathered for the event at the Alfab site in Västerås – from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The Nordic Tower Crane Days are an event created by Liebherr Tower Cranes in collaboration with Alfab to bring together its dealers from the Nordic and Baltic countries. The aim of the event is to help partners get to know each other better and to make it easier for them to support one another in their daily business. For two days, the Alfab site in Västerås became the central meeting point for the Liebherr tower crane community in the region.
The participating companies were Alfab and BinSell from Sweden, Skanska Rental, Utleiecompagniet AS from Norway, Johs. Møllers Maskiner and Normas A/S from Denmark, Talhu OY, Renta and Ramirent from Finland, Rúko from Iceland, EMET TMV and Viking Cranes from Estonia, ALFIS from Latvia and UAB Kauno kranai from Lithuania. Together, these partners represent a substantial share of the Liebherr tower crane fleet in the Nordic region.
Sweden is an important market for Liebherr tower cranes. The 340 EC-B and the 550 EC-H are in particularly high demand, both being closely linked to the widespread construction method using heavy precast concrete elements. As these elements tend to become increasingly heavy, contractors are increasingly turning to flat-top cranes from the EC-B series
Accordingly, the Nordic Crane Days focused on the EC-B and EC-H series in the 550 to 1,000-tonne segment, supplemented by topics relating to service and after-sales support.
“The Nordic Tower Crane Days are a real opportunity for us as partners to find new ways of working together and to build a stronger sense of community among all Liebherr owners in the region. In the long term, this benefits everyone involved”, says Erik Behrens from Alfab.
The event also provided an insight into ongoing major projects: Alfab and Skanska Rental were involved in the NKT Tower in Karlskrona, where Liebherr 542 HC-L and 258 HC-L luffing jib cranes were working on what will become Scandinavia’s second tallest tower. In Norway, Utleiecompagniet AS was supporting the Norwegian Ocean Technology Centre in Trondheim with six Liebherr tower cranes. In Denmark, Normas A/S has more than 20 Liebherr tower cranes in operation on the Danish side of the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel, the future longest immersed tunnel in the world. In Finland, Talhu OY and Renta were involved in the construction of the Kruunuvuori Bridge in Helsinki with a 630 EC-H 40 Litronic. In Iceland, Rúko is using Liebherr cranes for the Thjórsárdalur retreat and lagoon, a project carved into a mountainside under harsh weather conditions. In Estonia, EMET TMV is supporting the Rail Baltica project with eight tower cranes.
Alfab has been Liebherr’s partner in Sweden since 1980 and the partner for Liebherr tower cranes since 2019. The company acts as a neutral partner that buys and sells cranes and works closely with its customers across Sweden. From its base in Västerås, Alfab today operates on a 9,000 square metre site with a 3,000 square metre workshop.
“What stands out about the cooperation with Liebherr is the combination of credibility, quality, value creation, sustainability and customer focus. The cranes offer a higher resale value and a level of quality that sets them apart from many other manufacturers, and our customers feel that every day.”
With the Nordic Tower Crane Days, Liebherr Tower Cranes is creating a recurring platform for direct contact between dealers in the region. The exchange of information was a central element of the two days in Västerås and is seen by all participants as a building block for future cooperation.
Following the first edition in Västerås, Liebherr Tower Cranes plans to continue the format and to further develop the Nordic and Baltic dealer network in the coming years.
