Liebherr and Lego have several things in common: Both companies must work on their products with great precision, every single detail must complement each other. What else links these two big names? The passion for technology and the enthusiasm of the fans for the range of products. That’s why Lego can also be found again at this year’s Bauma.
19,000 pieces, 200 working hours, a project lasting 8 months. These are the key data of the work of Tobias Branig, who recreated the new 370 EC-B Fibre tower crane using Lego bricks. The model at a scale of 1:13 is now on show at Bauma in Munich and impresses young and old alike. Tobias also visited Liebherr at Bauma and was able to admire his model again in real life: “It’s fun when you see your many months of hard work and realise that the model also fascinates others”, says the hobby craftsman who hails from near Hamburg.
But it is not only the Liebherr tower cranes that impress Lego fans: From 1 August 2019, the R 9800 mining excavator is available in the Lego Shop to recreate with over 4,000 pieces. In the original the gigantic crawler excavator is 16.2 metres high and has a bucket capacity of 42 m³ - this equates to roughly 400 bath tubs! An initial exhibit of the Liebherr excavator as a Lego model is currently on show at Bauma and is attracting many visitors: “We are certain that we can impress not only Lego fans, but also many fans from our industry”, says Gregory Schuh, Marketing Manager at Liebherr-Mining Equipment.

Liebherr overcomes access restrictions to lift a Derrick crane onto a Paris high-rise roof
A Liebherr Derrick crane has been transported piece by piece onto the roof of the Opus 12 tower in Paris La Défense, using a goods lift and a helicopter. Because the heaviest and largest components could not reach the site and the roof could not bear the load of a standard crane, Liebherr Tower Crane Solutions, Liebherr France (LDF) and the client Legendre developed this rooftop lifting solution together.

For the filming of a new ARD/WDR series in Germany’s Ruhr region, the production team at Sally Forth Cinema used Liebherr’s Liduro Power Port (LPO 100) mobile energy storage system for the first time. Over a period of 33 filming days, the battery storage system ensured a reliable power supply for the entire base camp. The quiet and locally emission-free energy supply supported the implementation of modern green production concepts and contributed to smooth filming operations.
