In addition to technological developments and digital transformation processes, which are covered in the annual report, the year 2025 was also marked by Liebherr’s commitment to send a clear signal of transparency and responsibility. For the first time, the Group publishes a sustainability statement – a report in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) – which systematically outlines how sustainability is understood, managed, and advanced at Liebherr.
Sustainability and responsible action shape corporate functions of the business – from product development and resource use to employee relations and corporate management. As a family-run company, Liebherr pursues a long-term, future-oriented strategy and does not view sustainability as an isolated issue, but rather as an integral part of its business activities.
Anchoring corporate responsibility in organisational practice
This is also reflected in the structural anchoring of corporate responsibility within the Liebherr Group. The CR organisation ensures that sustainability topics and projects are addressed in an integrated manner and that the strategic direction is aligned with operational business processes. For the Group, with its 13 product segments and over 150 companies worldwide, this means: corporate responsibility is a centrally established corporate principle that is intended to be implemented and put into practice in a decentralised manner.
Key figures as a compass for sustainable action
For the sustainability statement, Liebherr collated more than 24,000 quantitative data points from Liebherr-International AG and its consolidated subsidiaries worldwide. For the first time, Scope 3 emissions along the value chain as well as waste-related data are also being reported across the Group.
The data provide transparency regarding the current status in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate management. In addition, they form the basis for identifying potential for improvement, prioritising measures in a targeted manner, and determining next steps.
By establishing an ESG reporting system (Environmental, Social, Governance) and publishing an audited, group-wide statement in accordance with ESRS ahead of the statutory reporting obligation, Liebherr is setting an important milestone. This marks another step in a long-term commitment to advancing sustainability together with employees, customers, and partners.
