Permit-free from south to north: new Liebherr LTM 1055-3.3 mobile crane for Schlamann-Autokrane GmbH

Liebherr has consistently designed the LTM 1055-3.3 for lightweight construction: low axle loads and a low overall weight enable permanent driving permits across many countries worldwide. “Being able to operate without the need for permits makes it easier for us to respond quickly to our customers’ requirements,” says Managing Director Torsten Schlamann, citing a key factor in the decision to opt for the new Liebherr 55-tonne crane.

With full ballast to the construction site

Schlamann Autokrane GmbH has opted for a special configuration: the LTM 1055-3.3 is on the road with a ballast trailer and carries the full 11-tonne load of ballast. The total weight of the combination is just 41.8 tonnes, whilst the axle loads are below 9.5 tonnes. Thanks to its low axle loads and compact dimensions, the LTM 1055-3.3 has been granted a general permanent permit in Germany. This saves time, reduces administrative effort and increases operational flexibility.

By opting to order the ballast trailer with the crane, Schlamann has eliminated the need for a separate vehicle to transport the ballast. On site, the LTM 1055-3.3 places the entire 11-tonne counterweight onto the crane chassis in a single lift to ballast the slewing platform. This ensures a quick set-up time.

“The LTM 1055-3.3 complements our crane fleet in the smaller crane segment, alongside the compact LTC 1050-3.1 and the truck-mounted telescopic crane LTF 1060-4.1. We will be able to deploy it very flexibly, with a focus on industrial assembly and pipeline construction,” says Torsten Schlamann.

State-of-the-art mobile crane technology

Schlamann is constantly modernising its vehicle fleet. “The LTM 1055-3.3 is our first crane to feature the LICCON3 control system. The operators were already impressed during their induction at the factory, both by the new technology and by the new cab and livery,” reports daughter Katharina Schlamann. “RemoteDrive – manoeuvring the vehicle by remote control – makes life much easier for the drivers.”

The LTM 1055-3.3 offers further technical features that enhance cost-effectiveness, comfort and safety. Road safety, for example, benefits from intelligent assistance systems: the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) and the moving off information system (MOIS) support the driver and increase protection for road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.
