Richter Kran- und Schwerlast GmbH is expanding its fleet with a third Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 mobile crane. The 9-axle crane will increase the company’s operational flexibility, particularly in infrastructure, industrial and wind power projects.
Richter Kran- und Schwerlast GmbH, based in Leipzig, is once again investing in a powerful large crane: with the third LTM 1750-9.1, the company is responding to the continuing high level of orders from the infrastructure, energy and industrial sectors. “The number of projects is currently enormous – in all areas. It was clear that we needed additional lifting capacity in this class,” explains company owner Matthias Richter. Martin Krusche, head of the crane department, adds: “The LTM 1750-9.1 is powerful, quick to set up and ideal for our range of crane jobs, i.e. in bridge construction, transformer installation, industrial plants and repair and dismantling projects in the wind industry.”
The crane achieves considerable increases in load capacity thanks to its Y-shaped bracing. Optimised for the installation of wind turbines and equipped with a luffing jib, the new addition to Richter’s crane fleet can reach lifting heights of up to 156 metres.
With three identical LTM 1750-9.1 cranes now in its fleet, the crane hire company has significantly increased its operational flexibility – both for parallel large-scale projects and for short-term extensions of deployment. “If a crane job unexpectedly takes longer, we can react immediately and send an identical machine to the next project. This gives us enormous planning security – also with regard to road transport permits,” says Krusche.
The new LTM 1750-9.1’s first assignment takes it to northern Bavaria. Just one day after the handover, the 9-axle crane lifts several plant components for a ceramics in Selb. “For this job, all services are provided from a single source: we not only take care of the preparation and the lift itself. The individual components, weighing up to 80 tonnes, of the industrial plant were previously collected from northern Sweden by our in-house transport department using three heavy-duty transporters,” explains Anton Pätzold, head of the transport department.
LTM 1750-9.1 is erecting a new wind turbine in the Bergisches Land region. The third follow-up project in March will involve the dismantling of a total of eleven old turbines between Leipzig and Dresden – a range of applications that impressively underlines the versatility and performance of the new crane.
With the new addition to its fleet, Richter now operates 18 cranes – ranging from 60-tonne to 750-tonne models, as well as MK mobile construction cranes and an LTR 1100 telescopic crawler crane – and thus relies on a fleet consisting exclusively of Liebherr equipment. This offers a significant advantage for the company: “We have around two dozen crane operators working on construction sites. They benefit enormously from the uniform operation of the machines. Anyone who can operate a smaller crane can also operate a large machine,” says Richter. The operators receive regular training, including at the Ehingen plant: “The training courses are professional, and even experienced operators gain valuable know-how.”
