Double girder slewing cranes – MPG
The MPG double girder cranes from Liebherr combine speed, safety and economy. Thanks to their high outreach they provide a high level of efficiency for the handling of dry bulk cargo on transfer vessels and are particularly effective on transshippers.

Load capacities | MPG |
Bulk cargo (on the ropes) | 45t @ 38m |
Average turnover | 1400t per hour |
The load capacities may vary depending on the application. |
Advantages at a glance

The double girder design of the MPG means that there is no need for a luffing mechanism which means no luffing ropes. This considerably reduces the grab swing during slewing motions in comparison to conventional slewing cranes. The Litronic Robot Control (LRC) system developed by Liebherr supports the crane operator with programmable travel markers and so increases productivity.
The unique double girder design provides the Liebherr MPG with an optimal outreach for loading and unloading Capesize vessels with a width of up to 45 metres. The strategic positioning of the driver’s cabin ensures a clear view of the loading area and so reduces hazardous situations onboard and accelerates the work process.
The Dynamic Anti-Collision System, developed by Liebherr in-house, monitors all movements where several cranes are operating simultaneously. With the aid of real-time analysis and situation-related slewing area restriction, the system prevents collisions with other cranes or predefined areas onboard.
The special winch position at the end of the grab arm, the crane's low centre of gravity and the fact that neither luffing gear nor luffing ropes are required, all contribute to low wear and reliable operation under full load over a long period of time.
