January – Through the desert with 920 hp

From 0 to 60 mph in ten seconds: KAMAZ trucks leave their competitors in the dust, achieving a double victory at the Dakar Rally. The race trucks are powered by 920 hp Liebherr engines and are built to withstand adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.

February – Award-winning robot system

Thanks to its innovative vision system and robotic arm, the bin-picking robot application wins the Best of Industry award in the robotics category. The interaction of sensor control, 3D image recognition software and a flexible robotic arm lightens production employees' workload and increases productivity.

March – Test flight for a 3D-printed component

World premiere at Liebherr-Aerospace: for the first time, a valve block produced using 3D-printing technology flies in an A380 test aircraft. The valve block is the first 3D-printed hydraulic component that has ever flown on an Airbus, and performs important primary flight control functions.

March – Night-time operations at the Eiffel Tower

A demanding job at the Parisian landmark: at the end of March, a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane lifts a regatta boat to the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. Despite strong gusts of wind making conditions more difficult, the crane lifts the boat, which weighs over five tons, onto the gallery of the Eiffel Tower at a height of around 60 m. This operation is designed to raise awareness for the "Initiatives Coeur", a medical initiative that enables children in developing countries to have life-saving heart operations.

April – Design quality at its finest

April – Wheel loader jubilee

Yellow turns to gold: The 50,000th wheel loader rolls off the Liebherr production line in Bischofshofen. The jubilee machine, an L 566 XPower®, is delivered to the Geiger Group. The Liebherr Group and its long-standing customer celebrate the wheel loader jubilee with a coat of golden paint.

June – Passion for sport

Spectacle, top-class sport and great excitement: at the World Table Tennis Championships in Düsseldorf, Liebherr reveals its sporting side. As the title sponsor of the tournament and team sponsor of the German and Austrian national teams, the Group reaffirms its long-standing commitment to table tennis. A fascination with the world's fastest racquet sport is in the company's blood: for more than 25 years, the Group has been a sponsor both in the German Federal League and at the international level.

June – New service centre in the Kuzbass

Formal opening: a new repair and storage centre for Liebherr construction machinery and mining equipment has been opened near the Russian city of Belovo. The Liebherr Group has invested over € 20 million in the service complex, which will provide a fast and efficient service for customers in the Kemerovo region and in Siberia. It will be the third such service centre in the Russian Federation.

July – Delivery of the new generation of truck mixers

Liebherr sets new standards in the field of concrete technology with its delivery of a new generation of truck mixers. The truck mixer generation 05 offers greater efficiency, improved ergonomics and increased safety. The new generation has a tough act to follow: the family-run company has been manufacturing truck mixers for concrete transport for fifty years.

August – Greater comfort for rail passengers

Liebherr equips 300 commuter trains with air-conditioning systems for the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The new air-conditioning systems increase the cooling capacity and provide optimum comfort in driver's cabins and passenger compartments.

September – Making your life smarter

At the IFA international consumer electronics fair in Berlin, Liebherr presents a variety of innovative technologies and products from its Domestic Appliances division. One of the trade fair's highlights sets new standards in the field of digitalisation: SmartDevice technology, which can be used to control your fridge at any time via an app.

September – Technology meets art

In Kirchdorf, innovative technology comes face to face with world-famous design. To mark the delivery of the 75,000th excavator, an A 918 Compact Litronic mobile excavator is transformed into a canvas. It might be better to call it a wall, as street artist Claudia Walde (alias MadC) gives free rein to her creativity and covers the landmark machine in her colourful graffiti art.

October – 100-tonne mining truck electrifies the Erzberg

The new T 236 mining truck marks Liebherr's first foray into the 100-tonne class. With a diesel-electric drive, this machine makes the most of the advantages of the electric drive innovations and components manufactured by the Liebherr Group itself. After successful completion of the test phase, its first field operations in open-cast mining are now starting in Erzberg in Austria.

November – Engagement in schools

In Berlin, Liebherr receives the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT award. The company is awarded in recognition of its engagement in organising the Liebherr Race. The project, a collaboration between regional schools and several Liebherr companies from Lake Constance to the Allgäu region, promotes intensive networking between education and business - and gets young people enthusiastic about technology at an early age.

December – Up in the clouds

On Germany's highest mountain, not only the view but also the crane technology is top-of-the-world. For the construction of the new Eibsee cable car on the Zugspitze a Liebherr flat-top crane now marks Germany's highest point – 13 m above the summit cross. The cable car with the longest unsupported span between its only steel pylon and the upper station takes visitors in ten minutes from 998 m to 2,943 m above sea level.
