The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor provides professional knowledge in the operation and support of safety programs for compliance with federal/state/local regulatory agencies, and Liebherr Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities

Level 1:

  • Helps maintain safety metrics and KPI’s
  • Coordinates emergency response preparation, planning and actual situations.
  • Implements the chemical management program.
  • Participates in incident investigations and management.
  • Conducts risk assessments.
  • Coordinates injury management and prevention.
  • Assists in performing EHS audits and provide reports.
  • Supports and makes recommendations to the management team in mitigating risks.
  • Engages in Safety Observations to maintain company standards.
  • Deliver safety orientation training for new employees and contractors.

Level 2:

  • All duties of EHS Advisor Level 1 plus:
  • Works one on one with Managers and Supervisors to identify and resolve safety hazards.
  • Deliver safety orientation training for new employees and contractors.
  • Deliver safety related training to production teams and individuals required by the business.
  • Tracks, trends and develops appropriate safety corrective actions.
  • Assists with the implementation and oversight of EHS procedures and programs.
  • Participates in incident investigations, management, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinates injury management and prevention.
  • Performs EHS audits and provide reports.

Level 3 (Senior):

  • All duties of EHS Advisor Level 2 plus:
  • Helps in development of safety metrics and KPI’s
  • Assists with the oversight of the EHS training program.
  • Implements the chemical management program.
  • Develops implements and coordinates EHS and training programs.
  • Establish scope and budget for related programs.
  • Prepares reports for Executive Management.
  • Mentor and influence leadership and work teams to develop their safety skills, and safety competencies.
  • Acts as the Lead for the safety committee.
  • Conducts risk assessments.
  • Implements locally all EHS procedures and programs.
  • Supports and makes recommendations to the management team in mitigating risks.
  • Performs EHS sampling and monitoring

Competencies

Level 1:

  • Associates of Science (AS) degree or Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in a technical related discipline preferably related to EHS and 0 - 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience preferably within manufacturing / heavy construction or mining industries.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance laws and applicable standards.
  • Basic training and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages; Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Computer Skills: proficiency in MS Office
  • Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
  • Organizational Support: Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; Supports organization's goals and values; Benefits organization through outside activities; Supports affirmative action and respects diversity.

Level 2:

  • Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in a technical related discipline, preferably related to EHS and 2 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience preferably within manufacturing / heavy construction or mining industries.
  • All skills of EHS Advisor Level 1 plus:
  • Strong training and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene and engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects

Level 3 (Senior):

  • Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in a technical related discipline, preferably related to EHS and 5 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience preferably within manufacturing / heavy construction or mining industries.
  • All skills of EHS Advisor Level 2 plus:
  • Advanced knowledge of Industrial Hygiene and engineering principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance laws and applicable standards.
  • Project Management:  Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
  • Ability to lead meetings with Management in absence of EHS Manager.
