Liebherr winch lifting systems are used in a variety of applications. Outstanding in their suitability for precise positioning of the boom in various types of cranes on ships, on oil platforms or in port areas. On lifting systems they can confidently maneuver and position heavy loads on lifting hooks and can also be used in all standard cranes on offshore installations as well as in the extraction industries, in mining, civil engineering and drilling rigs.
Our experts design precisely matched lifting systems for particular applications. Winch systems are always designed on the same principle: Rope pull force, lift height and lifting speed form the basis and define the required power, rope diameter, cable drum size and the size of the gearbox and electric motor.

Our systems are subject to the highest quality requirements. In accordance with a customer's requirements we are happy to carry out an inspection with common classification societies for industry-specific certification.
Modular design for greater flexibility
Liebherr designs and manufactures the key components for lifting systems such as cable drums, gearboxes, motors and control technology.
Throughout the years, all these components have proven their value in different applications. Depending on individual requirements, customers can choose flexibly from different levels of integration. Liebherr offers a comprehensive range of intermediate specifications from planetary plug-in gearboxes to complete lifting systems.
We provide our winch system customers with a variety of supplementary equipment. As an option we implement, for example, automatic rope winding shut-off, rotational speed detection or slack rope detection. For additional protection, we can provide a secondary safety brake on cable drums. Depending on requirements both electric and hydraulic drives are available.
Maximum efficiency using standard modular components
As well as project winches, Liebherr also develops standard modular rope winches for individual users. In this way customers can customise winches to suit different needs for their own equipment flexibly and without long development times while still relying on standardised individual component assemblies.
