Liebherr offers a wide range of statutory courses demanded by today's industry, ensuring compliance with lifting operations and lifting equipment requirements (LOLER 98) and British Standards for the safe use of cranes (BS7121 range).

The fees and programmes range from a basic operations course for mobile cranes up to planning and managing lifting operations.

Appointed Person

A course designed for Site Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors and Engineers whose duties include responsibility for the planning of lifting operations and who will have overall control to act on behalf of the management of the organisation requiring the load to be moved.

Course objectives

To provide clear information of all current legislation BS7121 and LOLER, codes of practice and guidance notes associated with the safe use of cranes and lifting gear during lifting operations, ensuring the implementation of a safe system of work. To gain theoretical and practical knowledge and to be qualified to carry out the responsibilities of the Appointed Person.

Slinger & Signaller

A course designed for personnel who have received no formal instruction or training in the use of lifting accessories and the use of communication methods.

Course objectives

To provide clear information of all current legislation BS7121 and LOLER, codes of practice and guidance notes associated with the safe use of cranes and lifting gear during lifting operations. To enable them to use the correct methods of communication on site and to ensure the lifting accessories are legal and appropriate methods of attachment are use to lift the loads safely.

  • Roles and responsibilities of the lifting team
  • The provision of properly trained personnel
  • The maintenance and examination of lifting accessories

Crane Supervisor

A course designed for personnel engaged in the duties of controlling lifting operations as may be delegated by the appointed person.

Course objectives

Mobile Crane Operator

A course designed for personnel who have received no formal instruction or training in the safe rigging, de-rigging and use of mobile cranes.

Course objectives

To provide clear information of all current legislation BS7121 and LOLER, codes of practice and guidance notes associated with the safe use of cranes and lifting gear during lifting operations. To enable the candidate to safely set up and work with mobile cranes on site. Follow various methods of communication.

To deliver training and testing towards the achievement of the intermediate Construction Award for Crawler Cranes.

Thorough examination of mobile cranes

A course designed for enable an engineer to examine Liebherr mobile cranes in complete compliance with LOLER98. This course is also a training element which forms part of the requirements to ensure an engineer is deemed competent to Thoroughly Examine mobile cranes.

Course objectives

The course will be based on the CPA Best Practice Guide (BPG) for the Maintenance, Inspection and Thorough Examination of Mobile Cranes.

NVQ

The objective of this is to deliver a nationally recognised industry specific qualification for the lifting industry for appointed persons, crane supervisors, mobile crane operators and slinger/signallers.

The National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a competence based qualification which is achieved through normal work based activity. The candidate builds a portfolio to show they have the necessary skills, knowledge, ability, training and experience required to perform the role safely.

Our NVQ Assessors specialise in lifting operations. The team have worked as crane operators, slinger/signallers and crane supervisors. They also carry out the role of Appointed Person for the Liebherr-Great Britain Mining Division; therefore they have the knowledge and experience to guide candidates through the NVQ and achieve it in good time.
