The contract between the Chinese railway vehicles manufacturer Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd., based in Zhuzhou covers anti-buckling systems for 14 low-floor trams and a set of spare parts for one tram. The trams will be operated in Longhua, a municipality of the city of Shenzhen in the Guangdong province in the South of China.

It is already the fourth order that Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive has placed with Liebherr-Transportation Systems: The company has already delivered anti-buckling systems for seven low floor tram trains operated in Haizhou, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province for 26 trains plus spare parts for one train in Huai’an, Jiangsu Province (Eastern China) and for 21 low floor trams running in Dahanyang, Wuhan, Hubei Province.

This new order from Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive underlines Liebherr’s competitiveness in the field of hydraulic actuation systems for railway vehicles in China. The systems will be manufactured, delivered and serviced by Zhejiang Liebherr Zhongche Transportation Systems Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG (70%) from Korneuburg in Austria and Guangzhou Zhongche Railway Vehicles Equipment Joint-Stock Co., Ltd. (30%) in China.

The hydraulic anti-buckling system assures that the specified clearance profile is kept under any operating conditions. As this function is classified as being safety-critical, the system is also monitored by means of a standard electronic controller BK3 integrated by Liebherr. The anti-buckling system substantially improves ride comfort and reduces wear on the wheels as the position of the bogies is simultaneously controlled by a common hydraulic system.
