The Category Lead – Travel role will be responsible for supporting the travel requirements of Liebherr-Canada Ltd. employees and guest travellers. Working closely with the Procurement Manager, the Category Lead will assist in developing the requirements for travel service providers. They will also be responsible in taking the lead role in implementing new services and training new/current employees on the use of the digital tools in place for requesting travel and reporting related expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Work with key business stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of traveler needs to ensure positive experience for travelers
  • Support Procurement Manager in evaluating travel service providers and presenting recommendations to business management on provider selection
  • Assist in the negotiation of costs and services to ensure value and that customer service needs are met
  • Drive implementation of digitized travel support platforms, including the launch of any new provider site portals and the development of internal travel request tools
  • Manage ongoing supplier performance to ensure all contracted obligations are met, with a focus on driving continuous improvement
  • Work with selected travel service provider(s) to implement agreements with hotels, car rental companies, and airlines to ensure we receive the best possible rates, while at the same time ensuring a high quality experience for our travelers
  • Develop meaningful analytics and provide reporting to management
  • Routinely assist travelers with rate enquiries, travel bookings, and change requests
  • Support the ongoing training needs of those employees utilizing the tools provided for requesting travel bookings internally or taking advantage of self-booking options
  • Stay up to date on all relevant travel regulations, government policies, etc. and provide information to business stakeholders regarding any issues that may impact travel plans or bookings
  • Review travel itineraries to ensure those travelers booking independently through approved tools are achieving best value
  • Audit employee expense submissions to ensure adherence to all appropriate policy requirements

Competencies

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in the Procurement Category support, preferably in the travel management space
  • Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel
  • Flexibility to take on additional work outside the travel category, as required
  • Ability to speak French will be considered an asset
