A telescopic boom crane was mounted on a standard truck chassis for the first time in 1979. This was the birth of the first telescopic truck-mounted crane, the so-called LTF. Even today, LTF cranes are still a low-cost alternative when cranes are mainly used as taxi cranes – in other words for short hoists and lots of road journeys.
Their use on standard truck chassis make LTF series cranes ideal for driving on the road. We can supply crane configurations for all conventional truck chassis.
Greater mobility in daily use
The use of standard chassis means low running costs for LTF cranes. Since these are standard truck bodies, no special road licenses are required – saving time, money and often a great deal of problems. That means LTF cranes remain mobile and always ready to start work.
As an option, large driving cabins with sleeping compartments are available – delivering additional flexibility and rest facilities for the driver.
Lower running costs thanks to standard availability
LTF cranes are cheaper to run than other crane types due to the use of standard truck chassis. The model-related fuel consumption is lower as are the purchasing costs for tyres and spare parts, as they are mass-produced.
High quality materials save space
We use high-tensile fine grained steel to make the MSH section which forms the connecting element from the truck-mounted crane to the chassis. The use of this premium steel type enables us to keep the body compact. The extra space in the intermediate frame and on the outriggers can then be used for storage by the crane driver.
LICCON smart crane control system
We develop the software and hardware for the control system in-house. The heart of the system is the LICCON (Liebherr Computed Control) computer system. This forward-thinking control architecture enables it to adapt to the continually growing needs of the market. Liebherr specialists continuously work on developing the system.
Full remote control
All our mobile cranes with a LICCON 2 control system today are programmed as standard for the remote control of all crane movements. The purchase of a control desk, a console with two master switches to which an existing BTT can be connected, enables all programmed LICCON 2 cranes to be controlled using the remote control.
VarioBase® ensures safe operation in constricted working conditions. The maximum lifting capacities are calculated individually and precisely for every situation. This ensures safe working practice with any chosen support base.
The compact dimensions and low axle loads of LTF mobile cranes ensure maximum flexibility. LTF cranes comply with all the criteria for an unlimited permanent road licence in Germany.
LTF truck-mounted cranes can carry much of their own ballast on the road with a gross weight of 38 t. If lower axle loads are required, gross weights of 32 t or 33 t are also possible, depending on the chassis, by simply reducing the amount of ballast carried on the crane.
Ballast can be added to and removed from LTF cranes in a matter of minutes. Thanks to our keyhole technology, the crane driver can change the ballast quickly and easily without leaving the crane cabin. The different weights of the ballast slabs makes a wide range of ballast versions possible – enabling the crane to react flexibly to specific requirements.
After around 45 years’ operation, WSW Mobil, the operating company behind the Wuppertal suspension railway, has replaced the final generation 72 trains. After a maximum of 45 years in operation, the trains were removed and taken to new sites. After a great deal of controversy broke out about the old trains, in addition to being sold, some of them where in fact raffled. Two LTF 1060-4.1 from Neeb were used for assembly work at one of the new sites.
