Bombardier Transportation North America, Montreal, Quebec (Canada), has recently selected Liebherr-Transportation Systems to supply leveling systems for 14 trams, which will be operated by the city of Waterloo, Ontario (Canada). Delivery is scheduled for fall 2014.

The leveling system, which Liebherr developes and manufactures at its production facility in Lindenberg (Germany), is installed inside the bogie of the rail car. It adjusts the entrance height of the vehicle to the level of the platform, thus making boarding and deboarding easier, for physically disabled people in particular.

The new project further strengthens the Bombardier and Liebherr’s partnership for the development of a family of hydraulic systems for rail vehicles.
