Press releases | 07/25/2019 Henneberger Schwerlast expands fleet with a Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane

  • The LTM 1250-5.1 is currently the most powerful mobile crane in the fleet
  • The LTM 1250-5.1’s high lifting capacity and great flexibility were the main factors behind the purchase decision by the crane rental company based in Thuringia

Henneberger Schwerlast e.K. crane and logistics contractor took delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane in May. The 250 tonne machine is now the most powerful crane in the Thuringian crane rental company’s fleet.

Mario Henneberger, the second-generation owner of the family-run company, travelled in person to the manufacturing plant in Ehingen to collect the new LTM 1250-5.1. He commented: “The LTM 1250-5.1 is currently the most powerful 5-axle crane on the market and, in addition to its extremely high lifting capacity, it also delivers excellent flexibility. This includes the modular structure of its lattice extensions and folding jib as well as its adjustable counterweight, VarioBallast®. The VarioBase® variable support base was another major criterion in our decision-making process as it delivers significantly greater flexibility for jobs on constricted sites.”

The jobs for the new LTM 1250-5.1 will include the assembly of heavy machine parts in the automotive industry, prefabricated concrete components and the erection and dismantling of tower cranes. The Thuringia region also has a long tradition of glass manufacture. The LTM 1250-5.1 will therefore also tackle construction work jobs in this industry.

Henneberger Schwerlast now has an all-Liebherr fleet of mobile cranes: “We like the standard crane control system in small and large cranes alike. That enables us to use our operating personnel flexibly when we are short-handed,” says Mario Henneberger. “Moreover, we can benefit from synergies by bundling our costs for maintenance and repair work within the crane fleet. That means we can reduce our costs and downtimes massively.” His father Hubert and uncle Hartmut Otto started the company shortly after the reunification of Germany. Its first mobile crane was a 3-axle LTM 1040-3. Today the company operates mobile cranes in Thuringia and north Bavaria ranging from the LTC 1045-3.1 compact crane to the powerful 5-axle LTM 1250-5.1, as well as a fleet of loading cranes and various transport vehicles for specialist and heavy haulage.
