Liebherr-Australia Perth branch was recently recognised as gaining Second place in the Innovation Category for the 2016 IFAP/CGU Safe Way Awards.

The awards recognise original solutions to safety risk and our Perth branch designed transport racks that can withstand the harsh transport associated with transporting Liebherr mining equipment from the factory in Colmar, France to the almost opposite weather conditions in Western Australia’s outback. The original frames, made of timber, were often at the mercy of heat, sun, rain, snow, salt and wind and deteriorated after travel, then waited for up to 20 weeks before use, often exposed to the elements.

The Purpose built, engineered, and certified transport solution has not only dropped the risk matrix from ‘extreme’ to low, but has halved the high-risk activities via crane lifts.

Given that Safety is one of the Mining Division’s Six Pillars, Liebherr-Australia is proud of our employees who consistently live this aspect, and look for innovative ways to increase the safety around our workplaces. The branch also achieved the Gold level in the Safe Way Achiever Awards: designed to reward and acknowledge organisations who maintain a safe workplace through their own safety management systems.
