Efficient wind power assembly in low-wind areas

Liebherr has become the first manufacturer of tower cranes to develop a complete package for the low cost, safe erection of wind turbines with hub heights of 110m or more in low-wind areas. Wind turbines can therefore be erected with wind speeds of up to 18m/s. Another advantage of tower cranes is that they can easily be transported and require very little space for erection.
Wind turbine erection specialist: the new 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic Flat-Top crane

With the 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic, Liebherr has developed a crane for very economical erection of wind turbines with hub heights in excess of 120m. The crane offers a new and highly economical hoist solution for wind turbines with hub heights over 120m.
For other applications, e.g. in power station and plant construction, the Flat-Top crane can also be used with radii of 41.5m and 46.5m.

High working speeds
The infinitely adjustable crane drive units ensure high working speeds. Thanks to the MICROMOVE fine positioning mode, concrete rings, nacelles and rotor blades can be positioned and set down with millimeter precision.
Safe, fast climbing
A concept for extremely fast, safe and simple climbing was developed for the 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic. Twice as fast as with conventional climbing equipment, the crane climbs to a free-standing hoist height of over 100m at wind speeds of up to 18m/s.
Safe work with a full view of the load
Tower cranes provide the driver with an ideal view of the load. This makes it easier for the driver and erectors to communicate when erecting wind turbines.
Economical transportation
The transport properties of the new 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic have also been optimized. Most of the various crane sections can be transported using semi-trailers without specialist transport equipment. The boom parts of the large crane can be placed inside the tower elements for transport.
Erection of wind turbines in low-wind areas

Liebherr has developed a special-purpose tower crane for the erection of wind turbines with hub heights of 110m or more in low-wind areas. This crane of the type 630 EC-H 70 Litronic is mounted on the foundations of the wind turbine and is configured in such a way that the necessary lifting height can be reached by guying the crane to the mast at one point only. The 630 EC-H 70 Litronic is therefore capable of lifting loads up to 70t.
Wind power generators in low-wind areas do not normally form part of large wind parks, but are erected in forest areas or regions where access is difficult. Tower cranes provides special advantages in these locations. Firstly, transportation vehicles with special permits are not required for delivery and removal on roads that frequently do not have special surfaces. Secondly, the crane and the wind turbine can erected on a comparatively small surface area.
The 630 EC H 70 Litronic crane achieves a lifting height of 151m with only one guying attached to the wind turbine tower. Up to a lifting height of 93.1m, it operated freestanding for this type of work.
The crane is mounted on a reusable foundation frame. Years later, smaller tower cranes can also be inexpensively mounted there in order to carry out maintenance and repair work on the wind turbine.
