Press releases | 11/24/2015 Liebherr-Components at SPS IPC Drives 2015 in Nuremberg

  • Innovative solutions from the areas of power electronics, control and regulation electronics, control cabinets and electric machines
  • Market launch of a new frequency converter system with power modules of up to 1,000 kW

At the trade fair for electrical automation, SPS IPC Drives 2015, from 24 to 26 November, Liebherr will be presenting solutions from the areas of electric machines, as well as control and regulation technology and mobile electronics for the first time.

Among these is a system solution for mobile machinery consisting of a compact control unit, digital camera and display. The freely programmable compact control unit ensures customer-specific safety functions up to performance level “d”. The very robust thermo-design housing satisfies the high requirements of protection class IP6K9K. Customers obtain a perfectly coordinated system in combination with the easy-to-integrate camera and the multi-touch display with direct sunlight viewing.

A highlight is the new frequency converter system. It is extremely flexible thanks to the option of an individual configuration with power modules. The power modules are available in a range between 100 kW and 1,000 kW.

From the switchgear area, Liebherr demonstrates a crane application which makes efficient use of space and satisfies high safety requirements. Switchgear by Liebherr adhere to the country-specific regulations and requirements in terms of electrical and functional safety, as well as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The control systems comply with safety standards and are planned and realised in accordance with EN 13849.

Liebherr showcases a cross-section of its product portfolio of electric machines. This ranges from compact air-cooled asynchronous squirrel cage motors, liquid-cooled permanent magnet machines and synchronous alternators. The performance of the motors ranges from 4 kW to 2,000 kW. The performance of the alternators extends to 3,500 kW. The motors were primarily designed for use in variable-speed drives with frequency converters and for high dynamic applications. The electric machines from Liebherr are employed in mining equipment, construction machines and maritime applications, among others.

Liebherr-Components is not only a manufacturer of high-quality individual components, but also a specialist for complete electric drive systems. This is shown at the trade fair with an exhibit in which two power modules, an active front-end unit and an engine drive unit, are featured in combination with a 500 kW electric motor. Perfectly coordinated components help the user with integration in its application and increase efficiency.
