Press releases | 09/20/2018 Liebherr hydraulic injection components for heavy commercial vehicles

  • New LI1 injector platform for maximum freedom of application
  • LP7.2 roller tappet pump for ultimate hydraulic efficiency
  • Ideal components for use in light-, medium- and heavy-duty engines

Liebherr exhibits at the leading trade fair for the commercial vehicle industry, the IAA Commercial Vehicles, for the first time in 2018, and presents the newly-developed hydraulic injection components for heavy commercial vehicles to trade visitors. With the LI1 injector platform and the matching LP7.2 high pressure pump, Liebherr's component division is expanding its portfolio of injection technologies for use in light-, medium- and heavy-duty engines.

Liebherr's Components Division is taking part in the leading trade fair for the commercial vehicle industry, the IAA Commercial Vehicles, for the first time in 2018, and is presenting injection components for engines in the 1- to 2.7-litre per cylinder power class. ”Our injection systems have already proven themselves in off-road applications. The next step is now the heavy-duty on-highway sector”, explains Maximilian Schaut, Managing Director Sales and Finance of Liebherr Components Deggendorf GmbH. ”We have been cooperating for some time in this field with the leading Russian engine manufacturer Kamaz. Today we would like to show the industry that we’re also a reliable partner for on-road applications", continues Richard Pirkl, Managing Director Engineering & Production for the Common Rail Systems (CRS) business unit.

New LI1 injector platform for maximum freedom of application

A highlight at the exhibition stand will be Liebherr’s new LI1 injector platform. The flexible common rail injectors are specially designed for use in light-, medium- and heavy-duty engines. Their slim, compact design and flexible connection dimensions allow for maximum freedom in terms of engine installation space. There are currently four different housing variants available. They range from a particularly short design with maximum length of 90 mm to a consistent housing diameter of 21 mm and thus provide additional space in the cylinder chamber of the engine. The built-in Injection Timing Control (ITC) function can be activated via a software module in the engine control unit. This means that no additional sensors or connections are necessary, which also minimises application costs. The ITC provides precise metering of the smallest fuel quantities and ensures constant injection quantities for each injector over its entire service life. Efficient LP7.2 high pressure pump

The LP7.2 common rail high pressure pump will be presented as a further system component for engines in the light-, medium- and heavy-duty sector. The oil-lubricated roller tappet pump is particularly small, lightweight and compact in construction and, therefore, easy to integrate into existing engine compartments. Digital inlet valves control the fuel supply. The special design of the pump keeps energy loss and dead volume to a minimum, with a corresponding increase in efficiency.

Flexible LI2 injector platform for demanding applications

In addition to the new developments, Liebherr will also be presenting the LI2 injector platform, which is already in use in demanding off-road and heavy-duty on-road applications. Here, too, the application flexibility is convincing. For optimal integration in a wide range of engines and applications, variable housing geometries and nozzle variants are possible. In addition to the classic 7 mm nozzle, the portfolio also includes a 9 mm version, which achieves particularly high flow rates. Learn more about the Common Rail injector LI2

Microprecision parts for hydraulic components in mass production

The microprecision parts form a link between the system components of Liebherr's common rail systems. The Components Division manufactures most critical components in-house. This expertise allows for a flexible response to individual customer requirements and maintains the usual high Liebherr quality in mass production.
