For vibro-flotation non-cohesive soil is compacted using a vibro-flot. The vibro-flot is mounted on the lower end of a pipe on a lift crane, duty cycle crawler crane or rig, either free hanging on ropes or via a leader and sunk into the ground. Through the vibration the soil grains change from their initial loose layering to a denser layering. Around the vibrator a cylindrical compacted soil structure is created.
1. Vibrator is hoisted on position
2. Vibration is activated and rope slowly lowered. Supported by jetting force of the pressurised water.
3. After projected depth water jetting is reduced
4. Pulling step by step under vibration. Funnel-shaped settlement is filled by adding gravel.
5. Compacted soil structure of cylindrical shape
Reinforced cylindrical ground structures are created at the compaction points. These are arranged in various grid patterns and so a systematic compaction of the building ground is achieved.
Thanks to the vibration effect and to its own weight the deep vibro-flot penetrates the ground.
In order to support the installation process, jetting water or compressed air emerging from the vibrator tip are added.
Extraction of the vibro-flot is executed in predetermined hoisting steps and intervals. Thereby the surrounding soil is compacted.
While the soil is compacted step by step, coarse material is filled into the funnel-shaped settlement.
Vibro-flotation is intended for compacting loose soil types and artificial fills, so leading to an area-wide improvement of the building ground.
