A project in Manhattan

New York City’s Manhattan skyline is an exciting environment for construction workers – and for Liebherr’s 710 HC-L tower crane

Getting up at night

While the sun went down, the 710 HC-L went up. Arriving at the construction site of the MoMa Tower, the Liebherr crane rose among Manhattan‘s skyline. The erection of the crane lasted 17 consecutive hours and kept the team awake through the whole night.

When innovations meet

The MoMa Tower is one of the city’s most anticipated building projects of the decade. The new Liebherr luffing jib crane 710 HC-L was a great choice to meet the requirements of the site. It was specially designed for use on high buildings and work in constricted spaces.

No mountain to climb

The new 710 HC-L luffing jib crane was erected on the 20th floor of a neighbor building. At its final height above ground at 1,050 ft (320 m), the crane will have an eye on the frenetic life of the most populous city in the U.S.

One last step

To help place more than 8,000 US-tons (7,250 metric tons) of reinforcing steel and about 49,000 yd³ (37,500 m³) of concrete at a dizzying height, the high load capacity and outstanding hoist speed of the 710 HC-L contribute to rapid construction progress.

A bird’s eye view

After a restless night and a long day of work, the crane finally stood on what is going to be its ground until the building’s planned completion in 2018. The exciting location of the future MoMa Tower will offer an incredible panorama of the skyline.

Among the greatest

Although looking tiny, the 710 HC-L luffing jib crane is a key tool in the construction of the fourth-highest residential building of New York City and ensures quick progress to finalize this high-profile project on time.
